Superchunk
Australian Tour - Dec 2024
It’s been 30 years since North Carolina indie-rockers Superchunk released their classic fourth album, Foolish.
That album, produced by Brian Paulson (Slint, Beck, Wilco, Dinosaur Jnr…), and mixed by the legendary Steve Albini, was just one of the band’s many releases that resonated with musicians, critics & music lovers alike, and became one of Merge Records’ biggest releases.
Written following the break-up of Mac McCaughan (Guitar/vox) & Laura Ballance (Bass/vox), who both remained in the band & co-founded Merge, with its powerful & catchy melodies, it’s the raw emotion behind the songs on this break-up record that still makes Foolish stand out as one of the band’s best albums to this day.
Since their formation in 1989 in Chapel Hill, Superchunk has released twelve full-length albums, including, most recently, Wild Loneliness, and three collections of singles and rarities. This year alone has seen the band busy with the release of their Everybody Dies b/w As in a Blender 7 inch and Misfits & Mistakes: Singles, B-sides & Strays 2007-2013 compilation, plus a whirlwind tour of Japan.
Following their first ever tour this August in Portugal and a run of US shows throughout October, Superchunk will hit Australia for a National tour this December. Australian fans can expect to hear the band performing songs off Foolish, as well as plenty of other fan favourites and more.

"...however serious Foolish gets, there's always more of the giddy thrill of hearing a group friends who sound like they're having a blast playing together, even if they're also pushing themselves to go further, giving the songs that much more all-or-nothing intensity than everyone else around them." - Pitchfork
