IN CINEMAS & ONLINE - OCTOBER / NOVEMBER 2024
Troubadour Presents is proud to partner with the Irish Film Festival 2024 to present: Ó Bhéal! (Verballed!) - a new documentary which features the freshest talent in Irish rap and hip hop. Following in the footsteps of Belfast band Kneecap, many young Irish acts are using their indigenous language to make their mark.
Ó Bhéal! (Verballed!) is a cinematic exploration of the rise of Hip Hop and Electronic artists in Ireland embracing oral traditions of folklore, ancient poetry and Sean nós singing to create a new fusion sound, a culture clash through music.
The film is an ensemble piece, featuring Irish language rappers Mory and Oisín Mac, producer and multi-instrumentalist Fehdah, and Limerick rapper Strange Boy.
The Irish Film Festival has a bunch of other music films this year including ‘Brendan Gleeson – Farewell to Hughes’s’ with Oscar nominated actor Brendan Gleeson, ‘All you need is Death’ – a horror film about frightful folk music and ‘The Continental Céilí’ - a World premiere of a film about Sydney’s mongrel Irish folk scene.
